Siemens Healthineers Unveil New 3-D Mammography System with High-Speed Imaging Technology
Siemens Healthineers has unveiled its latest innovation, the Mammomat B.brilliant, a new mammography system equipped with state of the art imaging technology. The system was introduced at the annual congress of the European Society of Breast Imaging, held from September 28 to 30, 2023, in Valencia, Spain.
The Mammomat B.brilliant produces high-quality 3D images in just five seconds. The key to this swift operation is wide-angle tomosynthesis, where the X-ray tube moves around the breast at an expansive 50° angle, the broadest angle currently available.
Mammomat B.brilliant also prioritizes patient comfort. Compared to other devices, the system offers an acquisition speed approximately 35% faster, resulting in a more comfortable experience for patients. Clinical studies have shown 77% of the women reported mammograms as painful and of those reporting pain, 60% described pain intensity as moderate or severe.
Verena Schön, Head of X-Ray Products at Siemens Healthineers, emphasizes the unique advantages of their latest mammography system, stating, “Our systems have to provide meaningful answers in the shortest possible time. This is especially important in mammography when the stressful uncertainty for patients must be reduced to a minimum. Only Mammomat B.brilliant offers this unique combination of speed, resolution, and wide angle.”
Mammomat B.brilliant will help Siemens compete in the $2.3 billion global mammography market, that is currently dominated by market leaders GE Healthcare and Hologic.
