Labcorp to Offer New Fertility/Family Building Service Offering to Employers/Health Plans Through Ovia Health Subsidiary
11-8-23 (by: Scott Gleason) Ovia Health by Labcorp has unveiled a pioneering Fertility and Family Building Benefit. Labcorp acquired Ovia Health in 2021 which is a digital health platform which has been used by 18 million women seeking information and support with family planning, pregnancy and parenting. The new offering includes a group of fertility and family building service offerings designed to provide flexibility to employers and health plans which can be tailored to specific objectives and budgets. The solution extends Ovia’s clinically driven approach to support family journeys, encompassing various paths to parenthood, including assisted reproductive technologies (ART), adoption, and surrogacy. The Ovia Fertility and Family Building Benefit is set to launch in January 2024.
Some of the services offered include a financial tool that empowers employers to contribute funds earmarked for eligible services related to fertility, adoption, and surrogacy. Ovia has collaborated with First Dollar, a financial technology platform, to offer a variety of payment options, including a digital wallet, physical debit card, and reimbursement choices for qualified expenses such as in vitro fertilization (IVF), egg freezing, adoption, surrogacy, and more. The new offering also includes support for members in identifying and navigating fertility clinics, providers, surrogacy agencies, and adoption services. This ensures that individuals have access to the best resources to make informed choices during their family-building journey.
Dr. Leslie Saltzman, Ovia’s Chief Medical Officer, emphasized the uniqueness of this initiative, stating, “Compared to existing fertility point solutions that approach fertility health as a single point in time, we designed our Fertility and Family Building Benefit to offer employers and health plans a customizable solution to help engage and support their employees and health plan members during their entire family-building journey – from preconception and pregnancy to postpartum and beyond.”
