HealthTap and Health Gorilla Join Forces to Facilitate Access to Medical Records
HealthTap, a virtual healthcare provider delivering primary care services throughout the U.S., has announced a partnership with Health Gorilla. Health Tap operates an online primary care service with membership of $15 a month allowing patients to schedule online telehealth visits with providers. Health Gorilla is known for its privacy-centric health information network and interoperability solutions. On February 13, 2023, HHS Secretary Xavier Becerra recognized Health Gorilla for achieving operational, privacy, and functional requirements to exchange health data nationally under the Trusted Exchange Framework and Common Agreement (TEFCA) allowing it to launch its health information network. This collaboration will see HealthTap joining Health Gorilla’s Qualified Health Information Network (QHIN) initiative, designed to enable compliant nationwide data exchange. HealthTap joins 16 other partner organizations committed to joining Health Gorilla’s health network.
Scheduled for a 2024 launch, this partnership will improve the accessibility of medical records for both doctors and patients using HealthTap’s virtual healthcare platform. HealthTap’s healthcare providers will gain the ability to access patient medical records from any organization within Health Gorilla’s expansive network. Simultaneously, consumers who create a free HealthTap account will also enjoy easy access to their own personal medical records. As part of this collaboration, HealthTap plans to leverage Health Gorilla’s Application Programming Interface (API) to access medical records within its network. Patients will need to verify their identity using Identity Assurance Level (IAL) 2 standards, aligning with the National Institute of Technology’s requirements for remote identification. Top of Form
