Exo Unveils New Handheld Ultrasound Device for Point-of-Care Imaging
Exo, a leading medical imaging software and device company, has introduced a new handheld ultrasound device called Exo Iris™. This innovative device is designed to improve point-of-care ultrasound (POCUS) by making high-performance medical imaging accessible to all healthcare providers.
Built on advanced silicon technology, Exo Iris offers versatile imaging capabilities while being significantly smaller and more cost-effective than traditional cart-based ultrasound systems. It represents the latest addition to Exo’s ecosystem, which integrates imaging, workflow software, and artificial intelligence (AI) to enable the widespread adoption of POCUS. The device allows healthcare providers, including physicians, nurses, EMTs, and clinicians, to access immediate imaging insights at the point of care, whether in emergency, acute care, outpatient, or home settings. The device utilizes patented SweepAI™ technology to automatically acquire images with a simple wrist movement, ensuring consistent and accurate imaging.
Exo Iris currently includes the Bladder AI solution to quickly determine bladder volume. Additional AI suites, such as Cardiac and Lung AI, are in development to further aid in diagnosing and monitoring heart and pulmonary conditions. The technology enables caregivers to visualize deeper within the body, making it suitable for scanning major organs and guiding procedures such as IV placements. Exo Iris also offers an ultra-wide field of view, allowing healthcare providers to capture a comprehensive view of organs or even full-body fetus images in a single scan.
Exo Iris allows hospitals to integrate Exo Iris with their existing healthcare IT systems, ensuring compliance and data security. Additionally, the device can operate without an internet connection, making it invaluable in rural and mobile healthcare settings. Exo Iris also includes Exo Works™, a point-of-care ultrasound workflow solution for rapid documentation and review of exams. Exo Iris is HITRUST, HIPAA, SOC2 Type II compliant, and ISO 27001 certified, ensuring patient data security and regulatory compliance.
Exo Iris is available for purchase in the U.S. with an affordable starting price of $3,500.
