DOD Selects Amwell Converge Platform for Telehealth Offering and Digital Care Solutions
The U.S. Defense Health Agency (DHA) has selected Amwell and Leidos for a significant contract that will drive the digital transformation of the military health system.
Under this contract, the Leidos Partnership for Defense Health (LPDH) will introduce the Amwell Converge™ platform, a hybrid care enablement solution designed to facilitate the full spectrum of care delivery, incorporating telehealth and automated care solutions. The platform will replace the MHS Video Connect solution and will be rolled out initially at five sites, followed by a phased enterprise-wide implementation.
Furthermore, this contract encompasses a range of Amwell’s automated care programs that have a proven track record in improving health outcomes. These programs cover various areas, including behavioral health and integrated core telehealth solutions. Amwell’s automated care programs have shown the ability to have a significant impact on patient compliance. 95% of consumers say the programs help them manage their medical condition and studies have shown an 89% reduction in premature treatment termination. If all options are exercised, the contract has a 22-month performance period and a total value of up to $180 million for LPDH.
Dr. Ido Schoenberg, Chairman and CEO of Amwell, expressed his gratitude for the service of the MHS and their honor in supporting the Department of Defense in bringing the benefits of hybrid care to the Military Health System.
The DHA’s Digital First initiative focuses on providing new capabilities and enablement to MHS GENESIS, an advanced electronic health record (EHR) and healthcare system solution for military and Veteran healthcare. The Amwell Converge platform, with its deep integration capabilities and user-friendly experience, is designed to streamline and improve the delivery of hybrid care. The collaboration between Amwell and LPDH aims to help the DHA harness the advantages of hybrid care, enhance access to primary and behavioral health services, and ultimately enhance outcomes for the MHS community.
