Disruptive Benchtop Sequencer Manufacturer Element Biosciences Signs Partnership with Revvity on Workflow Solutions
Revvity, Inc., and Element Biosciences, Inc., have announced a new partnership on next generation sequencing workflow solutions. Revvity provides a comprehensive suite of research use components to support the entire next generation sequencing (NGS) workflow. These offerings include sample collection devices, automated nucleic acid extraction kits and instruments, a variety of liquid handling solutions, reagent kits for automated library preparation, nucleic acid analyzers, and software for data management and interpretation. Element Biosciences markets the Element AVITI System, a flexible benchtop sequencer with high throughput and low cost. The system offers high accuracy on a bench top system with costs as low as $200 per genome or $2 per gigabase, and is one of many new disruptive technologies recently introduced to the NGS market.
The collaboration between Revvity and Element Biosciences seeks to enhance the customer experience by offering application-specific data, robust support, and easy access to essential components for laboratories. Arvind Kothandaraman, General Manager of Multi-Omics and Specialty Diagnostics at Revvity, highlighted the goal: “By addressing the typical workflow-related challenges faced by labs, we are accelerating the democratization of genomic sequencing.” In other words, they aim to make the intricate process of genomic analysis more accessible and streamlined.
Agreements such as this deal are important for nascent NGS platform providers to expand the ease of use and application ecosystems around their products. Element Bioscience’s competitor Ultima Genomics recently signed a similar deal with Integrated DNA technologies.
