Bruker Announces Majority Investment in Swiss Spectroscopy Gas Analyzer Company
Bruker Corporation has announced a majority investment in MIRO Analytical AG, a Swiss-based innovator in Quantum Cascade Laser (QCL)-based multi-gas analyzers. MIRO’s compact, high-precision analyzers are capable of simultaneously monitoring up to 10 trace gases, making them valuable tools for atmospheric and climate research, air pollution analysis, and industrial gas monitoring. The investment enhances Bruker’s portfolio of gas-analysis spectroscopy solutions, reinforcing its commitment to high-precision trace gas analysis. MIRO anticipates significant growth in the simultaneous trace gas analysis market, with an expected TAM exceeding $100 million annually. MIRO anticipates 2023 revenue of ~$2.5 million but is expected to grow rapidly. The financial terms of the investment have not been disclosed.
MIRO’s technology offers several advantages over conventional gas analysis solutions. It is capable of measuring up to 10 gases in a single device offering various combinations of gases for flexibility. The technology is suited for mobile applications and field experiments and provides high precision, even for low concentrations (up to 5 ppt). Finally it is fast enabling high-speed gas analysis at rates of up to 10 Hz and allowing direct measurement of all compounds using a single measurement principle. The technology is applicable for researchers employing trace gas monitoring in laboratory analysis and field experiments, such as soil-air interaction and greenhouse gas flux studies. It also can be used for air quality studies and is well-suited for air quality monitoring, measuring all regulated air pollutants, including NO2, greenhouse gases, NH3, and major pollutants. Finally, the compact solution is suitable for various industrial applications.
Dr. Morten Hundt, CEO of MIRO Analytical AG, commented: “We are delighted to become part of the Bruker family. MIRO and Bruker together are a perfect fit – we share the vision as a high-quality solutions provider in trace gas analysis. Together, we will deliver significant benefits and application insights to our customers in the environmental, climate research and industrial markets.”
