Best Buy to Sell Dexcom G7 CGM System Online
Best Buy, a leading electronics retailer with over 1,000 stores in the U.S. and Canada, is set to begin providing prescription continuous glucose monitoring systems (CGMs) to customers, aiming to provide a seamless experience by delivering these medical devices directly to their homes. This initiative is made possible through partnerships with Wheel, a prominent virtual care platform with a consumer-centric focus, and HealthDyne, a leading pharmacy technology provider. Best Buy has announced its offering will consist of the Dexcom G7 Continuous Glucose Monitoring System on BestBuy.com, where customers will be directed to the new platform, Wellness.BestBuyHealth.com, to complete the purchase process. This interface, powered by the Salesforce platform’s Commerce Cloud, will offer a range of CGM system options to customers, marking the retailer’s first venture into offering prescription-based medical devices.
The move towards providing continuous glucose monitoring systems comes in response to the significant demand for such devices, particularly among individuals managing diabetes which effects over 10% of the U.S. population.
To acquire a CGM at Best Buy, eligible customers can visit BestBuy.com once the offering is available. From there, they will be directed to the new platform by clicking “Get Started” or can visit Wellness.BestBuyHealth.com to initiate the process with Wheel and determine their eligibility. If approved, HealthDyne will process the prescription, and the CGM device will be shipped directly to the customer’s home. Insurance payment for CGM systems will not be available at launch, but individuals with Health Savings Accounts (HSA), Flexible Spending Accounts (FSA), or Health Reimbursement Arrangements (HRA) may be eligible for reimbursement for their CGM system purchases in the future.
