Beckman Coulter and 10x Genomics Partner on Single Cell Automation Solutions
Beckman Coulter Life Sciences has announced a partnership with 10x Genomics, Inc. to develop automation solutions for single-cell assay workflows. As part of this collaboration, 10x Genomics is committed to developing dedicated Chromium Single Cell kits designed to seamlessly integrate with Beckman Coulter Life Sciences’ Biomek i7 Automated Liquid Handler. This custom solution will automate the labor-intensive single-cell library preparation process, ensuring high-quality, large-scale production of finished libraries ready for sequencing.
Single-cell analysis methods have gained increasing prominence in fields like oncology, immunology, and neuroscience, where researchers aim to unravel the intricate complexities of biology. With the demand for large-scale studies on the rise, automation of manual processes such as library preparation has become essential to accommodate higher throughput. This partnership will streamline the workflow post the Chromium instrument run (10x Genomics single cell preparation instrument for cell partitioning and library prep), with an initial focus on further automating the library preparation process. The objective is to offer a more efficient and expedited solution for laboratories handling multiple single-cell samples simultaneously.
Elsa Burgess, Vice President, and General Manager of Biotech Workflow Solutions at Beckman Coulter Life Sciences, expressed their commitment to simplifying manual workflow processes and eliminating bottlenecks with the goal to enable laboratories to reach their research objectives faster and with fewer error-prone steps.
