23andMe Unveils Health Action Plan Digital Tool; Provides Added Customer Feature and Increases Information in Proprietary Genomic Database
10-31-23 (by: Scott Gleason) 23andMe has introduced a new digital tool called Health Action Plan. The offering, which is available to 23andMe+ members, harnesses the combination of genetic reports, health history survey data, blood, and biomarker data to provide a tailored set of individualized health recommendations.
These recommendations encompass adjustments to lifestyle factors like sleep, diet, and exercise. However, they extend beyond these and may include exploration of new treatments or activities tailored to specific health conditions. The platform encourages users to contribute further information to enhance the specificity of recommendations. Customers can incorporate data about their medical diagnoses and family health history, thereby deepening the personalization of their Health Action Plan. For those who meet specific criteria, the platform offers recommendations for additional clinical actions, such as blood tests.
The tests can be ordered directly through the 23andMe platform providing a means to order, pay for, schedule, and access blood tests at local laboratories. The results, along with personalized clinical analyses, are typically delivered within 3-5 business days.
The additional health data will also increase the value of 23andMe’s proprietary genomic database as it will link more health information to its genomic repository.
